Summerlin residents have a very strong sense of Culture. The Cultural Cornerstones of this beautiful master planned community are the Summerlin Library and Performing Arts Center and the Donald W. Reynolds Cultural Center (proud home of Nevada Ballet Theatre). We are also home to a professional regional dance troupe as well as our own performing arts center. We are one of the few communities in the country that is boasts this honor.
Both the Summerlin Library and the Donald W. Reynolds Cultural Center are distinctive for their architecture as well as their programming. The library, designed by Robert Fielden, was the recipient of the 1994 Pacific Coast Builders Conference Gold Nugget Award as the best public/private special use facility. The dance center, designed by Tom Schoeman, features a strikingly unique curved linear shape. A ballet barre runs along the outside wall of the building adding to its architectural interest.
The famous Mario Jason designed the classical bronze dance sculptures that grace the foyer and entrance to the dance center. They are in good company with the massive contemporary bronze sculpture that stands at the entrance to the Summerlin Library and Performing Arts Center designed by another famous artist Rita Deanin Abbey.
